You Say McWrap, I Say McYummy! {Giveaway for S.F. Bay Area Readers!}

I was recently sent a couple “Be Our Guest” cards by McDonald’s so I could try their new Premium McWraps. I’d been hearing a lot about them from some of my blogger friends, and was anxious to sink my teeth into one.

  • The new line of meal-size wraps combines fresh vegetables, tasty sauces and juicy chicken breast fillets in a warm tortilla.
    • All Premium McWrap varieties come with a choice of either grilled or crispy chicken, so that guests can customize their meals according to their individual dietary needs. There are 3 Premium McWraps to choose from:
      • Sweet Chili Chicken McWrap: sweet chili sauce, creamy garlic sauce and sliced cucumbers
      • Chicken & Bacon McWrap: creamy garlic sauce, bacon, cheddar jack cheese and tomato
      • Chicken & Ranch McWrap: ranch sauce, seasoned rice vinegar, cheddar jack cheese, sliced cucumbers and tomato
      BIEPfhMCQAIzWtqI’ve been a McDonald’s fan my entire life. Growing up, I didn’t get to eat there as often as I wanted, so anytime we made a special trip to the Golden Arches, it was party time! I am happy to see McDonald’s incorporating healthier food options into their menu. Grilled Chicken, can’t get much healthier than that, right?! The Premium McWrap is something I would make at home. I tried the Sweet Chili Chicken McWrap, with the Grilled Chicken. BIEQJueCYAA4n3_As you can see from my photo (above), along with sliced cucumbers, there’s also some greens in the mix! Was it good, you ask? Yes! It was delicious! The sweet chili has just the right amount of sweetness to it. It’s very flavorful and filling. One Premium McWrap filled me up. But don’t take my word for it, McDonald’s want you to try out their Premium McWraps for yourself! BIEREWVCAAE2Um0

Plentils- Crunchy Lentil Chips!

You guys remember a few months back, when I attended the FoodBuzz Bloggers Conference In San Francisco? One of the products I tried was made by Enjoy Life, and it’s called Not Nuts! Seed & Fruit Mix. It was fantastic! I knew I had to reach out to the company and tell them how much I enjoyed their product. I did, and guess what? They sent me one of their brand new products to share with all of you!

I am super excited to tell you about Plentils-Crunchy Lentil Chips! I know what you’re probably thinking, “Lentil chips, really?!” I’d like to say, “Yes, really!” But before I do, here’s a little more about Enjoy Life. All their products are gluten free and allergy friendly. They are also free of the top 8 allergens: wheat, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish & shellfish. Most products are also free of potatoes, sesame, sulfites and casein. Add to that Kosher certified by Chicago Rabbinical, Halal certified by IFANCA, and non-GMO by the Non-GMO Project. Enjoy Life products contain no artificial ingredients or trans fats; and have been featured on the Food Network, The Today Show and numerous other media outlets.

Now, on to the goodies! I was sent all four flavors to try: Garlic & Parmesan, Light Sea Salt, Dill & Sour Cream, and Margherita Pizza. I was excited to sample these and ripped one of the bags right open, don’t worry I didn’t spill anything! First one I tried was the Margherita Pizza. I really did not know what to expect, as I have never had a Lentil Chip before. I liked it, I really did! They are very crunchy, and full of flavor; not to mention made from high protein lentils!  Hubby liked them too, and he’s super picky about what he eats! LOL! The real test was going to be my little one… would a five-year old like them? There’s only one way to find out. I offered him some from the bag, at first he hesitated. “What’s that?!” he asked. “It’s a new chip, it’s really good,” I answered. Nothing. I continued eating mine, he slowly reached into the bag and pulled one out. I didn’t say anything. He put it in his mouth… and didn’t spit it out! He likes it! Success! We are trying to eat healthier (No, I don’t sit around chomping on celery & carrots all day… I wish!) so I am glad he likes Plentils. I would much rather have him eat these than some of the other “chip” options out there.

Plentils have 40% less fat than the leading potato chip and are cholesterol free. Since they are brand-new, you may not have seen them in your local natural food store or grocery stores yet. You can find out where to buy them here. Connect with Enjoy Life on Twitter and FB. Look for other Enjoy Life products like their cereals, cookies, granolas, chewy bars, seed & fruit mixes, chocolate for baking & chocolate bars!

Which Plentils flavor do you want to try?

Honeydrop Tea & Juice Drink Review {Refreshing!}

I’ve always loved drinks that are a bit different, not your average soda or coffee. I was drinking fruit smoothies when I was a child, we just didn’t call them smoothies. One of my favorites was made with Papaya! I can still taste it, all these years later. I love to create my own juice concoctions and drink them down! When I stumbled upon the Honeydrop folks at the FoodBuzz Food Bloggers Festival, I was intrigued with their products.

First, I loved their logo the moment I saw it. A Honey Bee created out of honey, genius! Their glass bottles have the logo built into them, fantastic! It really makes them unique and memorable. If you are not familiar with Honeydrop, here’s a little snippet off their website.  “Honeydrop Beverages is a line of healthy teas and juices made with a tablespoon of pure, unrefined honey (never any refined sugars). Through our Buy A Bottle– Save A Bee initiative, a portion of our proceeds are donated to local beekeepers throughout the country to help battle Colony Collapse Disorder, an epidemic threatening the global bee population.”

Here’s what I really like about them: no refined sugars, no GMO’s, and gluten-free. If you are looking for sugary beverages that are so sweet they’ll make your lips pucker… this ain’t it! Stop reading now and go back to what you were doing. If you want a beverage that has just a hint of sweetness from one tablespoon of wildflower honey, you’ve come to the right place! Kick off your shoes and make yourself at home! SONY DSC

The teas come in three flavors: Peach, Lemon, and Green Tea. I gulped down the Green Tea & the Lemon Tea (not at the same time though, 2 different days!), and hubby drank the Peach Tea. I liked them all , but I was really impressed with the Green Tea, sometimes Green Tea can be kind of bitter… not this one. It was smooth and goes down easy.

“Honeydrop is a healthy, low-calorie line of teas and juices with a spoonful of honey in every bottle, containing all-natural ingredients and no refined sugars. Founded in 2009 by cancer survivor David Luks, Honeydrop answers the call for a healthy, great tasting beverage with no refined sugars, all-natural ingredients, and a low calorie count.

  • Honey naturally contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants
  • Honey provides long-lasting, sustained energy
  • Honey is used by athletes to restore tired and damaged muscles after an intense workout
  • Honey strengthens the immune system
  • Honey is clinically proven to soothe sore throats in children better than over-the-counter cough medicines

Our honey is sourced from beekeepers across America in order to support local beekeeping and ensure that its journey from the bee to the bottle is as short and pleasant as possible. Drink up and bee refreshed!”

The juice drinks come in 3 flavors: Lemon Ginger, Blood Orange, and Blueberry. We all sampled the Blood Orange and Blueberry, and they both received a big thumbs up! I cannot say the same for the Lemon Ginger! You know I always keep it real with my readers, right?! Well, I could not drink the Lemon Ginger, the flavors were too overpowering. (Sorry, Honeydrop!) That’s not to say you wouldn’t enjoy it, but it just wasn’t for me. I’m not a fan of drinks with Ginger in them.

You can buy Honeydrop drinks on their website, or locate a retailer in your town here. I will be stocking up on these delicious drinks and am so glad I got to introduce you to them! “From the Bee to the Bottle!” (Don’t forget to recycle those glass bottles!).

18 Rabbits Granola Bar Review {Sweet!}

One of the companies I ran into at the Foodbuzz Food Bloggers Festival a couple months back, was 18 Rabbits. I am trying to eat healthier (and I have a LONG way to go, trust me!) so I was immediately drawn to their table. I wanted to learn more about their Granola Bars.

What I found out was that they are Certified Organic and Kosher! Yay! They are made with Oats, not Wheat, which can be hard for some people to digest. They are very low in sodium, have no refined sugars (they use Maple Syrup & Honey instead), no trans fat & no GMO’s! These bars are also sulfur-dioxide free. Sounds good so far, right?!

Here’s what I was given to review:SONY DSCFirst up is the Cheeky Cherry Chocolate. The ingredients include sweet organic chocolate, Bing Cherries, and cranberries. The Gracious Granola base has pecans, almonds, maple syrup, and coconut. This is quite a dense bar, very filling. I like that it is not too sweet, I don’t want my granola bars to be overly sweetened, these have just the right touch of yummy sweetness. This was my fave of the two, although I genuinely liked them both! Here’s a close-up of the Cheeky Cherry Chocolate:SONY DSCDoesn’t that look delicious? I love cranberries, so this was a no-brainer for me. I felt good eating it, knowing it was made with organic ingredients, that were also GMO free. Next up was the Funky Figs and Cherries Bar.

This one lists figs, cherries and walnuts in the ingredients. Sweetened with honey, 18 Rabbits has added flaxseeds and cacao nibs to their Veritas Granola to make these extra special! Take a looksie:SONY DSCThese bars are softer than some of the other granola bars you may be accustomed to, you don’t have to worry about chipping a tooth with these! They make the perfect snack for any time of the day or night. I can see myself biting into one of these after I get back from the gym, or as an after-dinner treat! Children love these bars too! You can find them on &

18 Rabbits also sells their Granola & Bunny Bars… maybe they will let me try those one day soon, so I can give you the scoop on them! I highly recommend these granolas bars to you-they are healthy & delicious!

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil Review & Giveaway!!

Finally! After a few bumps in the road, I am finally doing my review & giveaway for Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. Let me start out by saying I had been reading & hearing so much about coconut oil prior to reviewing the Tropical Traditions brand. I had even purchased another brand at a local grocery store. Having never used coconut oil before, I did not know if the one I had purchased was a good quality one or not… Until I received my samples from Tropical Traditions! The moment I unscrewed the lid and took a quick whiff, I could tell the difference. The one I had bought at the grocery store really did not smell like coconut at all, which had surprised me at the time. The Tropical Traditions brand does have a slight coconut aroma to it-it was very light and quite pleasant.

Virgin Coconut Oil, Gold Label – 1 pint

Since receiving my sample, I have cooked with it on numerous occasions. I no longer use vegetable oil to cook with, and have been using olive oil and my Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil when I cook. Like many moms out there, I want to prepare healthy meals for my family, with healthy ingredients.

So far, my family has enjoyed everything I have prepared for them using my Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil! That’s definitely a plus.

I’ve also used it for cosmetic purposes! Nothing like killing two birds with one stone!

Tropical Traditions is America’s source for coconut oil.
Their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is hand crafted in small batches by family producers, and it is the highest quality coconut oil they offer. You can read more about how virgin coconut oil is different from other coconut oils on their
website: Tropical

What is Virgin Coconut Oil
? You can also watch the video they produced about Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil:

Tropical Traditions also carries
other varieties of affordable high quality coconut oil. Visit their website to check on current sales, to learn about the many uses of coconut oil, and to read about all the  advantages of buying coconut oil online.
Since the FDA does not want us to discuss the health benefits of coconut oil on a page where it is being sold or given away, here is the best website to read about the health benefits of coconut oil.

Tropical Traditions sells many more awesome, healthy products. I was amazed with the variety on their website, they have organic food, skincare, oral hygiene…even pet products!
